Los Teros impressed with their tackling on Tuesday and their scrum and maul have been sharp throughout, but their offense has struggled aside from a few minutes against Canada. Coach Pablo Lemoine has restored his first choice backline and brought in experienced campaigners Rodolfo de Mula and Juan de Freitas into the pack.

Mike Tolkin has once again selected Toby L’Estrange at flyhalf, and in fact handed him the game day captaincy in a statement of defiance. Adam Siddall is selected at inside centre in place of Milemoti Pulu, and in another strange decision Maximo de Achaval is started at fullback, forcing Joe Cowley to the wing. John Cullen gets his first start in the blue jersey in an otherwise unchanged pack.

You have to hand it to the Americans, they showed up huge with their backs against the well on Tuesday. Can they repeat that performance? They don’t necessarily need to in order to win, but it would be a nice footnote to end the tournament on. Hopefully both sides will throw caution to the wind and play expansive rugby, with the Selects surely finishing on top. United States by 12.

CANADA vs ARGENTINA

Kieran Crowley’s men embarrassed themselves on Tuesday and must produce a massively improved performance to restore confidence ahead of the Maori game only a couple weeks away. Patrick Parfrey has been parachuted in from the Gold Coast to fill the maligned flyhalf jersey, and Joe Dolesau starts on the wing. Zac Coughlan, Callum Morrison, and Jake Ilnicki return to beef up the forwards.

The Jaguars have lost captain Joaquin Tuculet to injury but it is an otherwise full strength side to finish the tournament. Martin Garcia Veiga wears the armband in his place, and call-up Ignacio Saenz gets his first start. Halfbacks Pedro Imhoff and Sebastien Poet head up a very dangerous looking backline.

Argentina have never lost in this tournament and that won’t change any time soon. Canada have virtually no chance to win on the back of their miserable effort on Tuesday, and it’s now up to individual players to show that they belong on the upcoming European tour. Expect improvement, but not nearly enough as the Jaguars finish things in style, winning by 15.
