The American pack outmuscled their counterparts at the breakdown and held at the set piece. A magnificent debut for Samoan winger Robert Lilomaiava saw him score four tries as the Manu put Canada to the sword early. Showing unusual discipline, halfbacks Jeremy Su’a and Tusi Pisi led Samoa through the phases patiently and effectively. The Canadians had no answer for the Samoan power runners and looked flat until impact subs contributed to two late scores.
