After coming torturously close to toppling the All Blacks in November, Ireland start the next chapter against Scotland in Dublin on Sunday.
The muck and rain of Scotstoun did more to remind us why turf fields are likely the future than it allowed for any kind of decent rugby to be played.
Let’s get this over with before any false hopes arise – Scotland are not going to win this year’s tournament. Worse, they’ll probably come dead last.

On to the remaining four games of the weekend, including the almighty clash in Dublin between an inspired Ireland and the All Blacks, and matches in Bucharest, Edinburgh, and Paris.
Scotland, amazingly, are riding a two-game win streak against the Wallabies. To put that into proper perspective, Australia had won the previous 16 matches covering a span of 24 years.
The Springboks blanked sorry Scotland in a totally one sided affair on Sunday. That they only conceded one score in the second half was scant consolation for a comprehensive defeat.
