The United States took another step forward in Wellington, and one name who stood out was Perry Baker, quickly evolving into more than just a finisher. While the team might not have quite achieved the results they could – and should – have had, there was a clear improvement, and once they tighten up the areas of their game that let them down (goal kicking, discipline) they will be a real force to be reckoned with. The ability of Michael Friday to call upon both Carlin Isles and now Baker has given the side two world class speedsters, a luxury that few if any other teams on the circuit can boast. The Olympics now look well within their sites, and is it too far-fetched to suggest they might be in medal contention in 18 months?
